Aliansce Sonae Shopping Centers S.A. resulted from the consolidation of Aliansce Shopping Centers and Sonae Sierra Brasil in August 2019. But our history began much earlier, concurrently with the history of the shopping mall sector in Brazil.
Aliansce began its activities in 1975 as Nacional Iguatemi, when it launched the first shopping mall in the Northern and Northeastern regions, the second in Brazil: Shopping da Bahia. In 2004, Aliansce Shopping Centers is formed through a joint venture between Nacional Iguatemi and General Growth Properties (GGP), a U.S. company.
In 1999, Sonae Sierra arrives in Brazil and opens, in 2002, Parque D. Pedro Shopping, Latin America’s largest development in terms of continuous área.
Over the years, both companies expanded their development portfolio, service offering, and investment in technology and state-of-the-art technology. In 2019 the consolidation of Aliansce and Sonae Sierra gave rise to Aliansce Sonae, the largest shopping mall management company in the country, with a portfolio of 38 shopping malls distributed throughout the country's five regions.
